Captain Sandeep Kumar Pandey demonstrated exceptional courage, tactical acumen, command and control, and presence of mind during a classical operation against insurgents associated with the Zeliangrong United Front. While conducting an Area Dominance Patrol, Captain Pandey and his team encountered 5 to 6 insurgents armed with fully automatic weapons such as AK-47 and M416 Carbine. Despite being outnumbered and facing imminent threat, Captain Pandey displayed exemplary courage by challenging the insurgents and initiated appeal to surrender. Instead of resorting to gunfire to avoid civilian casualties, however insurgents broke contact and ran to save their lives. Captain Pandey decided to pursue the insurgents, initiating a coordinated cordoning and search operation. As a result, one insurgent was apprehended, and a significant cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from their hideout. Apart of this Captain Sandeep Kumar Pandey has conducted numerous successful operations, apprehending key personalities of insurgent groups and seizing arms, ammunition, and other warlike stores, significantly contributing to maintaining peace and security in the region.
